My skin is an important part of the story of who I am. I have dealt with acne without lasting results beginning in my early teenage years. Acne is such a common skin issue that often times the true cause and triggers are never truly discovered. Acne is seen by many as a harmless skin condition but it in fact is not harmless. It wrecks havoc on the spirit, self-confidence and motivation.
Let’s start with a little background since everyone’s skin care story is different. I have dealt with acne since the awkward hormonal years from basically 12/13 yo. to today, and not just the run of the mill surface level acne, I’m talking deep painful cystic acne that hurts when you start moving your face (I definitely still had the surface level acne too). I tried everything under the sun to get it to go away so let me entertain you while I cringe at this list with you: face scrubs, omitting all moisturizers to get my skin to dry out, proactiv, washing my face multiples times per day (over washing), oil remover pads, benzoyl peroxide spot treatments, birth control, accutane (two rounds),
Keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you, it is only a guideline of the types of products that I use during any given day.
AM: Vitamin C face wash, hydrating toner, mandelic Acid Serum for exfoliation, water based moisturizer or barrier cream, spf.
PM: Vitamin C face wash, hydrating toner, vitamin a/retinol serum, repairing Matrixyl 3000 + Argireline + Hyaluronic Acid + Organic Vitamin C Serum for Face; Anti-Aging Face Serum, Anti-Wrinkle Serum, Facial Skin Serum (I found one on amazon), 5% benzoyl peroxide
